With a packed year ahead, we are hitting the ground running to support industry engagement, business growth, and collaboration opportunities across the Territory and beyond. From major international trade shows like Avalon 2025 and Indo-Pacific Maritime to the local NT Defence Week featuring the Northern Australia Defence Summit, the year ahead is shaping up to be one of momentum and opportunity for the NT defence sector.
This year, the Territory will host Exercise Talisman Sabre (TS25), bringing multinational forces to our region and reinforcing our role in Australia’s defence and national security landscape.

Chief Minister, the Hon Lia Finocchiro with Brigadier Doug Pashley at NT Defence Week launch event at Shorebarge.NT Defence Week returns in 2025 from 28 April to 2 May. This highly anticipated week highlights the Territory’s strategic significance in Australia’s national defence strategy while showcasing capabilities, cutting-edge technologies, and collaboration opportunities with industry.
This year’s theme, “Uplifting Industry Across the North to Meet Capability Demands of the ADF, Allies, and Partners,” underscores the Territory’s importance in the Indo-Pacific and its capacity for innovation.
The expanded Northern Australia Defence Summit will now run over one and a half days, featuring keynote addresses and panel discussions with ADF leaders, government officials, strategic analysts, and industry representatives.
NT Defence Week 2025 will provide a platform for local businesses, decision-makers, and industry leaders to strengthen networks and create long-term opportunities. Don’t miss your chance to be involved!

Chief Minister Excellence in Defence Industry – Indigenous Business 2024 winner Winya Indigenous Furniture.In conjunction with NT Defence Week the Chief Ministers Awards for Excellence in Defence Industry are now open for nomination. These awards celebrate outstanding contributions to defence capability, sustainability, and industry growth in the NT.
Don’t miss your chance to nominate and celebrate your outstanding contributions to the local defence industry.

- Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Defence Industry: Honouring a business that demonstrates overall excellence in the defence sector.

Veteran Partner Entrepreneur 2024 award winner Villy.The Minister for Veterans – Veteran Community Awards are now open! These awards recognise individuals and businesses within the veteran community who make exceptional contributions to the Northern Territory.
The Veteran Community includes current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence force, and their partners.
Award categories
NT Veteran Employer of the Year: Honouring businesses that demonstrate exceptional commitment to employing members of the veteran community.
NT Veteran Employee of the Year: Recognising a veteran who has significantly contributed to their organisation using their ADF skills.
NT Veteran Community Member Owned Business of the year: Celebrating a veteran community-owned business making a strong impact in the NT.
Awards will be presented by Minister for Veterans, the Hon Jinson Charls, at the AIDN NT Awards and Gala Dinner on 29 April 2025.
Finalists will receive 2 tickets to the AIDN NT Awards and Gala Dinner.

Defence provides a range of grants to support industry. These grants assist Australian small and medium enterprises in expanding to meet Defence capability needs and join global Defence industry supply chains.

Land-Air Autonomous Tactical Teaming in the Littoral at Scale
The latest Army Innovation Day (AID25) Challenge has been released. Army must enhance the range and lethality, sustainment and survivability of the land force to be ready to fight wars and continually adapt to complexity in ‘cluttered’ littoral environments.
For AID 25, Army places elevated emphasis on ‘speed to capability’ innovations and the rapid development and adaptation of field-ready prototype software and hardware systems.
