Projects
The Northern Territory Government is supporting and facilitating projects that will enhance Defences capabilities in the north. The following list provides a snapshot of some of the major projects with potential to both directly and indirectly support Defence operations.

The works at RAAF Base Tindal will include the redevelopment of facilities to maintain the capability of the Base

Planned upgrades Larrakeyah Defence Precinct support Australian Defence Force (ADF) operations across Australia’s northern approaches. The project is nearing completion.

The Territory Government is working with bidders for ongoing a support and sustainment of OPVs in the region.

Upgrade and expand existing facilities at Robertson Barracks Close Training Area (RBTA), Kangaroo Flats Training Area (KFTA), Mt Bundey Training Area (MBTA); and Bradshaw Field Training Area (BFTA).

The Darwin Ship Lift Facility will enable the maintenance and servicing of Defence and Australian Border Force vessels, along with commercial and private vessels.

The Marine Industry Park is the only significant vessel servicing point between Cairns and Perth.

The development of a highly secure, high speed network known as Terabit Territory, and the impending arrival of undersea international telecommunications cables to Darwin will create a world-class capacity for new data storage centres, lay the foundation for knowledge and digital-based industries, and support the operations of newly acquired defence platforms from the north.

Located on the Middle Arm Peninsula, the master-planned 600 hectare estate will provide a variety of lot sizes for sale or lease, to accommodate large strategic industries for downstream gas processing and gas manufacturing.

The Territory’s geographic location and climatic conditions provides significant advantages for space launch, high altitude pseudo satellites, ground station operations and downstream space industries for civilian, commercial, forecasting, health services, intelligence and defence purposes.
